THE TOLKIEN TRAIL
Paintings around Hurst Green Ribble Valley
The Tolkien Trail is a 7 mile circular walk starting at Hurst Green in the heart of the Ribble Valley Lancashire. JRR Tolkien was inspired by the place and its beautiful landscape when he stayed there with his son who was studying at Stoneyhurst College in the 1940's.
It's well known to walkers with paths along the River Ribble and Hodder.
On Going Project
Steve started painting the trail in the summer of 2026 and plans to revisit throughout the year to capture the changing seasons.
